In March of 2000, I bought a brand new Audi S4! It's a dark blue (called Santorin) with a black (Onyx) silk leather interior. You can see pictures of it HERE.

So, I replaced my throttle-body boot (TBB) at 3200 miles even tho I'm not chipped (ok, I tried the chip for a few hours, but right from the get-go it felt "slow", so I took it out). I noticed the car being "not as fast as it used to be" at about 1000-1100 miles... my initial reaction was "hmm, I must be getting used to the car". Then, at about 1700 miles, I went to a local GIAC chip dealer to try their "chip for a day". Needless to say I wasn't impressed at all. This stunned them (obviously) so I suggested I might have a torn TBB (on a stock chip after only 1700 miles?!?)... I drove around on the stock chip until just today (04/22/2000) when I changed out my TBB, myself. The clamp around the sensor is a PAIN IN THE ASS to get back on, by the way. Thanks to Don P's AudiWorld TBB Replacement Instrctions for the wonderful step-by-step on how to do this.
Check out my pics of the torn TBB HERE.

So, after changing my TBB, I gave in and bought the GIAC (aka Garrett) chip for my S4 from Dynospot Racing. All I can say is "WOW!" :-). The GIAC chip bumps the peak horsepower up to about 310-320, and torque is increased to 350-360lb-ft. There are no four-wheel dyno's around here, so I can't test for sure - but it sure feels fast according to the "butt-dyno" ;-)

On May 5th, 2000 I decided to put on some meatier tires and opted for the Yokohama AVS Sports. I purchased 235/40WR17 tires which are a little wider than the stock Potenza RE040's at 225/45YR17.

May 23, 2000 was the install date of my UUC Short Shifter, at 40% shift-reduction... this is an EXCELLENT upgrade!!!!
